Equipment

  • 1 Oven Preheat to 400°F (200°C)
  • 1 Baking sheet Lightly greased
  • 2 Bowls One for water, one for coating

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb Cube Steak Cut into ½-inch cubes
  • 2 cups Breadcrumbs Whole grain or panko preferred
  • 1 cup Water For moistening steak
  • 1-2 tsp Garlic To taste
  • 1 tsp Salt To taste
  • 1 tsp Pepper To taste
  • 1-2 tsp Italian Seasoning Blend of oregano, basil, etc.

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly grease a baking sheet with cooking spray or olive oil.

  • Cut 1 lb of cube steak into 1/2-inch cubes for even cooking.

  • In a shallow bowl, mix 2 cups breadcrumbs with 1-2 tsp garlic, 1 tsp salt, 1 tsp pepper, and 1-2 tsp Italian seasoning to taste.

  • Pour 1 cup of water into a small bowl.

  • Dip each steak cube into the water, then roll in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently for an even coating. Place on the baking sheet.

  • Bake for 15 minutes or until golden and cooked through (internal temperature 160°F).

  • Let rest for 2 minutes before serving to retain juiciness.

Notes

Serve with mashed potatoes and green beans for a classic meal, or use as a salad topper or taco filling. For variations, add cayenne for spice, Parmesan for umami, or use gluten-free breadcrumbs. Pair with Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, or sparkling water with lemon.
